Parassini Sree Muthappan Temple River The temple stands in a scenic land on the banks of a big river fringed with palm trees on both shores. The river is treated with reverence and is untouched by any pollutants. There are many tributaries attached with the main river. To have a lighter moment, it is possible to take a cruise on the vastness of Parassini River in front of the Temple and for these houseboats are provided.

Boating

Boating in Parassinikkadavu Stay in the houseboat is unique and is unmatched by any other experiences. You can take a trip up/down the river in the speedboats too till you get scared or being forced to return back to normal world. The Parassinikadavu Ayurveda Medical College is situated nearby and Pappinissery Toxicology Center is another important institution founded in the same locality, where snakebite victims are treated and study on venom is done.

St. Angelo Fort, Kannur

St. Angelo Fort The great St. Angelo Fort was built in 1505 by Dom Francisco de Almeida, the first Portuguese Viceroy of India and is on the Arabian sea coast about 2km from Kannur town. It was attacked in vain by the local Indian ruler Zamorin and kolathiri in the Siege of Cannanore (1507).

In 1663, the Dutch captured the fort from the Portuguese and sold it to Ali Raja of Kannur. In 1790 the British who seized control over the fort, renovated and equipped it to be their most important military station in Malabar.

Snake Park

The Parassinikadavu Snake Park, which is 18 kms away from Kannur and 2 kms from Parassinikadavu is one of the major attractionsSnake Park, Kannur of Kannur District itself. The Snake Park, which is a subsidiary unit of the Pappinisseri Vishachikitsa Society, is the only one of its kind in the State and perhaps the whole of India. Other than the snakes, there are other kinds of rare animals, reptiles and birds like the endangered species of Simhavalan Monkeys and Crocodiles. Snake demonstrations conducted every hour draw large crowds of visitors. (Open 9 a.m - 5.30 p.m everyday).

Vismaya Amusement Park, Parassinikadavu

Vismaya Amusement ParkVismaya, the amusement park, is located at Parassinikkadavu, Kannur. A perfect place to spend one's holidays, this Amusement park, which clubs information and entertainment, is inventive in many aspects. With rides and other equipments in international standards, the park also offers boating facilities. Vismaya Infotainment Centre, the first water theme and amusement park in cooperative sector has been operating since 2008. The amusement park is located in 30 acres of land and can handle 3000-3500 visitors at a time. The park has 14 water rides in different heights, wave pool, artificial waterfall, giant wheel, sky train, water flash bumper cars, musical fountain and children’s parks are among others. The entry fee is Rs.300 per person on working days and Rs.375 on weekends. The park has the rainwater harvesting facility of five crore liters and the entire water requirement for the park will be drawn from this facility.

Payyambalam Beach, Kannur

Payyambalam Beach The quiet, secluded Payyambalam beach is a popular local picnic spot and a beautiful beach resort. There is a massive sculpture of mother and child by renowned sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman in the landscaped garden at the beach. The Payyambalam beach is one of the beautiful beaches in this State and is an ideal place to spend evenings, irrespective of seasons. It is very near to Kannur town. The mortal remains of Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pilla, A.K.Gopalan, K.P.Gopalan, Pamban Madhavan and K.G.Marar are laid to rest near this resort.
